Mesh Computers & the Service of Doom [Rant]
April 24, 2008
I recently purchased a brand new Mesh Computer which cost just under £2,000. Six months went by without any problems and then one day I shut my machine off, came back to switch it on and I got red lines on the bios screen.
I gave a call into Mesh on the 15th of March and explained the problems, they said that it was the Nvidia 880gtx and that they would arrange for an on site service. After misplacing my details a few times and not booking the visit, they quite calmly told me that the next available booking was the 4th of April!, erm but that is 3 weeks away? “I’m sorry but thats the best we can do sir”
So I accepted the fact and the weeks rolled by till it came to the day before the visit. Just to make sure that everything was still on track I gave them a call. During this call they informed me that a week prior they had cancelled the contract with the call out company and that this company had all the details of the O/S calls logged. So long and short of it I wasn’t to be getting the visit I had been promised. Instead I had to wait for a yellow sticker to arrive in the mail, stick it to my tower and send it off to them with a 72hr turn around time. I had no choice but to do this, so I did.
I had a knock on the door from a delivery driver who advised me to keep the box, I thought it a bit strange but went into the office and began the unboxing, plugged it in, turned it on…… yes it was working no more red lines on the startup screen, booted into vista…..died again. After another 8 phone calls backwards and forwards that day, telling me it was either the ram that had been dislodged in transit or the graphics card needs to be re-seated.
They worked out in the end that it was the Motherboard that needed replacing and that they would arrange an on sight visit. As I type this on the 24th of April they are out of stock of my motherboard, and do not know when they will get anymore in. I am waiting for a “Senior Advisor” to give me a call back.If you are thinking of buying a new computer from Mesh, just type in “Mesh Customer Support” in google. And check to see if they have got any better before thinking about purchasing one from them.
Or like myself and this guy below you could be getting a little stressed.
