Tiny Polls for Twitter
February 22, 2008
A new service called StrawPoll has been introduced created by Rob Goodlatte & Dan Romero

Explanation of the service from Rob Goodlatte
Today I’m pleased to introduce StrawPoll, a tiny polling application for Twitter. The premise is simple: each day, we ask an interesting question. Reply to strawpoll and tell us why you voted the way you did. StrawPoll tallies the votes and displays the most recent reasons for each response. To get started, all you need to do is sign into Twitter and start following strawpoll.
For example, today’s question is “Better superpower: flight (1) or invisibility (2)?”. To answer, simply reply to @strawpoll with a message like:
@strawpoll flight because you could travel anywhere for free
Your reply must be formatted like “@strawpoll <vote> <reason>”, where
Photoblogging with twitxr
February 17, 2008

Twitxr is like Twitter but with pictures and geolocalization. The idea is, you take a picture with your iPhone or other mobile device, you write something related to the picture and this picture gets posted on the Twitxr site for your followers to view.
The photo will also then be posted as a link into your twitter stream and onto your facebook account as well.
With a Jailbroken iPhone you can use the client, which can be easily installed through installer.app, you should find it under the networks tab.

They are currently working on other mobile platforms such as the Symbian and Android, and the API is public so anyone can develop a client.

Let Twitter help you stop smoking
February 14, 2008

Tobacco Free Florida has built a Twitter powered social tool designed to help people quit smoking.
Each time you light up, send Qwitter the number of cigarettes you smoked by posting an update to twitter in the following format @iquit 2
That will tell Qwitter you just smoked 2 cigarettes and at the end of every day Qwitter will add together all the posts you sent and add them to your progress graph.
You can keep track of your thoughts and feelings as you stop smoking. Send Qwitter a message that doesn’t start with a number, and Qwitter will add it to your journal.
@iquit I really want a smoke. I hope this gets easier.
You can visit your Qwitter page at http://qwitter.tobaccofreeflorida.com/qwitters/username to view your trend over time.
Hoosgot What?
December 30, 2007
David Sifry founder and CEO of Technorati has announced the release of Hoosgot. Pronounced “Who’s Got” it’s a simple way to ask whos got what you are looking for.
Simply put “hoosgot” in a blog or twitter post and it will appear here. You can follow hoosgot on twitter to stay up to date with the goings on.
More detailed explanation from the man himself..
Today I’m unveiling a new service that I put together over the last 48 hours. It’s called hoosgot.com. Hoosgot (pronounced “who’s got…”) is a simple way to ask who’s got what you’re looking for. Just put “hoosgot” in a blog post or a Twitter tweet and it’ll show up on Hoosgot. Send a twitter to @hoosgot, it works as well. You can tag a post with hoosgot or lazyweb, and we’ll pick it up as well, as long as your blog is indexed by Technorati. It’s meant to give you a place to send the requests for all of those things that you’ve wanted, but just can’t find - chances are, what you want already exists and someone else out there in the ether knows about it (or has built it!)
If someone’s got what you’re looking for, or a clue in that direction, they post a comment. RSS feeds flow from the posts and the comments.
For example, you might ask:
hoosgot an easy-to-use pencil sharpener that has suction cups on the bottom so I can stick it anywhere?
or:
hoosgot a simple camera bag that you can stick a laptop in, and still carry over your shoulder without knocking over pedestrians? Note I’m not looking for a knapsack or a backpack, I want it to act like a messenger bag…
And so on.
It works if you work it: Give back to the web
Of course, you should subscribe to hoosgot, it has RSS feeds (the main feed and the comments feed) so you can watch and participate - for Hoosgot only works if you comment on the questions posed. Happen to know where someone can find the information they seek? Interested in collaborating with them on creating that invention described when the person invoked hoosgot or the lazyweb? Leave a comment on the entry, and give back to the web that has given us so much.
The @hoosgot Twitter User
Along with hoosgot.com, you can also subscribe to updates by following the @hoosgot user on twitter. When you invoke hoosgot or the lazyweb, don’t be surprised when you get a reply from @hoosgot! Tell your friends. Twitter away.
Whole T-Mobile Twitter Mix-Up Was Technical
December 17, 2007

Last week Twitter had stopped working over at T-Mobile without notice. It looks like a LOLCat got stuck somewhere

T-Mobile does not have a policy against Twitter—in fact, they like us. This was a technical bug, now resolved. However, something that emerged from this confusion was very impressive. The immediate and sustained support from the Twitter community was very much appreciated. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more this week.
Well glad thats been cleared up
Overheard.it on Twitter
December 10, 2007
Overheard.it is a new project by the makers of snitter, it’s a site that pulls in all the fun things people overhear on Twitter. The site was thought of, designed and built by the fine folks at Sidebar Creative.
You can follow the results of this project by following @overheard on twitter, and if you have a bit of gossip that you want to share just start a tweet with “OH” or “overheard” and they will grab it.
